Zhihui Wang

Zhihui Wang joined the Quantum Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (QuAIL) team in December 2014. Her current research focus is on quantum algorithms for solving hard optimization problems and developing quantum-classical hybrid algorithms toward applications.


Wang obtained her Ph.D. in condensed matter theory from the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Technology in Beijing. Before joining the QuAIL team, Wang worked as a postdoc at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory at Iowa State University. She was also a postdoc at the Center for Quantum Information Science and Technology (CQIST) in the Daniel Lidar Group at the University of Southern California, studying quantum information science.

Research Interests

Wang is interested in a broad spectrum of quantum information science. Topics of her previous research include: numerical methods for simulating the coherence evolution of many-body spin systems; quantum decoherence and dynamical decoupling; quantum control and quantum metrology in solid state systems, particularly defect centers in diamond; and theory and applications of adiabatic quantum computation.
