Members of Planning and Scheduling Group Participate in International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling

The Intelligent Systems Division’s Planning and Scheduling Group staff participated in the planning and execution of the International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling (ICAPS), held in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on June 21-26, 2014. Minh Do served as Conference Co-Chair, along with Wheeler Ruml (UNH). David Smith served as the Applications Track Co-Chair, along with Roman Bartak (Charles University, Czech Republic). Jeremy Frank Co-Chaired the System Demonstration track, along with Robert Goldman (SIFT LLC).

Jeremy Frank served on the Program Committee, and Jeremy Frank and David Smith both participated in the Doctoral Consortium, each mentoring two doctoral students. Jeremy Frank also gave a Doctoral Consortium talk titled “Who is your Customer?” David Smith gave an invited talk at the Knowledge Engineering for Planning and Scheduling (KEPS) workshop titled “Domesticating the Action Notation Modeling Language (ANML),” about languages for expressing planning and scheduling domains for automated planners.

BACKGROUND: ICAPS is the premier forum for exchanging news and research results on theory and applications of intelligent planning and scheduling technology. The conference features a pre-conference program of workshops and tutorials on current research topics. The main technical program consists of invited talks by leading scientists working in the area, presentations of technical papers, and system demonstrations. For graduate students, the pre-conference program also includes a Doctoral Consortium.
