Flight Opportunities Reporting System Project Delivers Flight Opportunities Reporting System V1.0

The Flight Opportunities Reporting System (FORS) version 1.0 was delivered and presented at the annual Flight Opportunities Program (FOP) face-to-face meeting held at Ames Research Center on September 25, 2014. FORS is the payload management and technology maturation tracking software tool utilized by FOP management, campaign managers, and users. The FORS system supports technology and performance reporting on the program level. It also supports managerial processes associated with managing payloads through their lifecycle along with documentation management. Version 0.5 has been operational and in daily use since December 2013. Strategic work for FORS tool development in FY15 is to integrate with the existing FOP public and external sites and services to improve overall collaboration and communication along with providing new capabilities and enhancements for reporting and technology maturation tracking.

BACKGROUND: The Flight Opportunities Program (FOP) fosters development of the commercial reusable suborbital transportation industry. The program also allows emerging space technologies to be demonstrated and tested on parabolic aircraft flights, suborbital rockets, and balloons that can simulate microgravity, and the reduced gravity environments of the Moon and Mars.
