Code TI Members Participate in "Autonomous Towing For Future Transportation Systems" Meeting

A 'Blue Sky' meeting was held March 7-8, 2017, at the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition in Pensacola, Florida. The two-day brainstorming session focused on three topic areas: autonomy architectures for towing and other airport surface operations (baggage handling, de-icing); operational architectures for the effective integration of autonomy into airport operations; and deployment strategies for ensuring trust and acceptance of autonomy.

There were 24 invited participants from two NASA centers: Ames Research Center (Exploration Technology – Code T, and Aviation – Code A) and Johnson Space Center; the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL); The Boeing Company; American Airlines; Ground Operations Managers at Charlotte Airport, and other representatives from industry and academia.

NASA PROGRAM FUNDING: The Universities Space Research Association (USRA), under the NASA Academic Mission Services (NAMS) contract, and the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL).
