Quantum Artificial Intelligence Laboratory/Rigetti Computing Team Conduct Graduate Student Talk Series

On April 6, 2022, members of the Quantum Artificial Intelligence (QuAIL) team and industrial partner Rigetti Computing will lead a series of talks and an in-person/remote panel discussion on major Quantum Information Science (QIS) topics. Graduate students from the University College London (UCL) and the University of Bristol at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, will have an opportunity to learn about the QuAIL and Rigetti Computing teams’ extensive experience in a range of QIS work, including fundamental physics insights in the co-design of quantum hardware, novel physics-inspired classical solvers and simulators, quantum tools and programming, quantum algorithms, quantum-enhanced NASA applications, quantum communication and networks, and superconductor-based quantum computers.

BACKGROUND: The graduate students taking part in this outreach event are currently pursuing advanced degrees in QIS at either the University College London (UCL) or the University of Bristol. Half the students are in the second year of their Ph.D.’s in some aspect of quantum technology, while the other half are Masters students who will be starting their Ph.D.’s in quantum technology next year. Paul Warburton, Professor of Nanoelectronics at the London Centre for Nanotechnology at UCL, will accompany the students on their visit to the U.S. and will also serve as a panelist with members of the QuAIL team and Rigetti Computing.

NASA PROGRAM FUNDING: NASA Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program, and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) funding via interagency agreements
