Jeremy Frank Presents Project Status at Advanced Exploration Systems Program Mid-Year Review

Jeremy Frank presented Autonomous Systems and Operations (ASO) project status at the Advanced Exploration Systems (AES) Program Mid-Year Review. The review was held virtually on May 6. Current reported activities included:

  • Demonstration of crew decision-support technology onboard the International Space Station (ISS) for diverse systems, and In-Vehicle (IV) robots for future ISS demonstrations
  • Demonstration of Advanced Caution and Warning (ACAWS) technology in the Rapid Prototyping Laboratory (RPL) for Orion infusion
  • Development of Vehicle Systems Management (VSM) functionality and delivery of reference implementations to Johnson Space Center (JSC) Flight Software
  • Development of advanced automated planning technology for AM-1 Cubesat Contact Planning and Quantum Computing

The AES program management team now consists of Mark Kirasich (former Orion project manager), Marshall Smith, John Guidi, and Chris Moore.

BACKGROUND: The ASO project develops and demonstrates autonomous systems technology, including automated planning and scheduling systems, plan execution technology, fault management technology, and crew decision-support technology for future Exploration missions.
