The Apex architecture provides capabilities to emulate human behavior in domains such as air traffic control where correct behavior is partially defined by a set of standard operating procedures. Standardizing procedures in such domains has several advantages that are believed to be applicable to reconnaissance and surveillance missions. For more information on how Apex is used to automate construction of detailed models for emulating behavior, see the ICCES paper Modeling Patterns of Performance in Air Traffic Control Operations.
