Note: Before installing Apex, you must install the following:

1. Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
   (1.3 MB)
   
   
2. Gnu Emacs 20.7 (optional)
   (13.8 MB)
   
   NOTE: For the Emacs interface to work correctly, there must not be spaces in the names of any of the folders containing the Apex installation.
   
   
3. Unpack Apex using WinZip or a similar program. As this creates a new folder named 'apex', please move or rename your old 'apex' folder if you wish to preserve any of it. At this point, Apex is essentially installed. You may place it anywhere on your computer.

Apex has been tested on Windows 2000 and XP, but should work on similar versions of Windows. If you try a different Windows version, please forward us your comments .
