I am a Senior Scientist with the Adaptive Control and Evolvable Systems Goup in the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center. I am employed by the University of California, Santa Cruz through their University Affiliated Research Center (UARC).
My interests cover all aspects of computer optimization and design, from advanced search and optimization algorithms to meta-representations for open-ended design. In addition, I also apply intelligent algorithms to air traffic, both for optimization and congestion forecasting.
Outside of my NASA, I also run the the iDesign Lab, where I am particularly interested in using A.I. techniques for design and for Web applications. My work there includes systems for both fully automated computer-design and for human-computer interactive design.
