Jeremy Frank - or is that Dr. Frankenstein?

Frank or Frankenstein? YOU Make the Call!

Dr. Frankenstein: "That's Frahnkenstein."

What's the story here? It goes something like this: My grandfather Hans Frank tells me that the family originally came to Western Europe from Eastern Europe sometime in the 1300s or 1400s. During that time, Eastern Europeans were forced to change their names because the Western Europeans couldn't pronounce them. (This is part of the reason for all these Westwaters and Goldblooms and so on.) Our family apparently changed it's name to Frankenstein because they were on the land of Baron Frankenstein.

My grandfather came to the U.S. in the 1930s. Fiorello LaGuardia was accused of being a "Frankenstein's Monster" during tenure as mayor of New York City. My grandfather was told this, and advised to change his last name if he was planning on staying in this country. He decided to change his name to Frank.

However, now that I'm a doctor (and specializing in AI, although not necrology), I think it's appropriate to refer to me as Dr. Frankenstein.
