Tolga Kurtoglu presented a paper at the 2008 International Conference on Prognostics and Health Management October 6-9, 2008. The paper titled “A Systematic Framework for Benchmarking Monitoring and Diagnostic Systems” by T. Kurtoglu, O. Mengshoel , and S. Poll describes an architecture and a formal framework to be used for systematic benchmarking of monitoring and diagnostic systems and for producing comparable performance assessments of different diagnostic technologies.
BACKGROUND: Within the Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) project, a variety of monitoring and diagnosis technologies are explored for health management of complex systems in aeronautics. This framework generates realistic and standardized datasets to be used for empirical evaluation of monitoring and diagnosis systems, and provides common vocabularies and ontologies and well-defined metrics that enable comparative analysis of different diagnostic algorithms and systems.
